The Italian-cookie doughnuts that sparked a frenzy at an Irondequoit doughnut shop over the summer will soon return.
Over a four-day span in mid-August, the specialty doughnuts drew crowds with a sweet tooth to Ridge Donut Cafe, 1600 Portland Ave. Each day, lines snaked through the eatery’s parking lot as patrons waited to purchase the baked goods.
The shop announced via social media on Thursday that they will again sell the popular Italian-cookie doughnut for $2.50 each from Thursday, Oct. 17 through through Sunday, Oct. 20, from 8 a.m. until the doughnuts sell out each day.
The limited-edition doughnuts are a collaboration between two Irondequoit businesses: Ridge Donut Cafe and Rubino’s Italian Food Market.
The doughnuts mimic an Italian cookie, with almond flavoring and a little bit of vanilla, topped with chocolate frosting, chocolate sprinkles, a raspberry drizzle and a piece of an Italian cookie.
